Garage Construction - 2011

I really enjoyed working with Laurie. Both he and Sparky are wonderful craftsmen. As mine was a "budget job", Laurie capably worked with my hand-drawn plans and asked insightful questions which helped clarify what I had envisioned. Furthermore, he was very willing to staged the project so that I can complete the wood shed portion as funds become available in the future.

The project consisted of replacing a very old garage and I did not want the new structure to dramatically contrast with my 100 year old bungalow home. Laurie understood this and helped ensure my design fit the scale and style required. He is quite inventive, suggesting I find a pair of old barn hinges to integrate into the carport post attachment detail. He also suggested, and then free-hand designed, the beautiful end-detail on the carport beams … giving them a sense of style and age. Laurie was very willing to incorporate some older windows in the garage and I appreciate his efforts to keep as "green" as possible in his work. I was surprised how little waste there was from the project. He even ensured that the old concrete slab was recycled. My neighbors all commented on how polite everyone was and how neat and clean the job site was kept. I highly recommend Laurie for your next project.
